Neo Traditional Variant

A twisted, high-energy piece showing an oni mid-motion, locked into itself while gripping broken masks. The body is coiled tight, almost fighting against itself, with a dragon tattoo running across the back and flames cutting through the negative space. It feels aggressive but controlled — like violence held just beneath the surface.

Pulled from Japanese folklore, the oni is often seen as a demon or punisher, but also a reflection of human emotion taken too far — rage, obsession, chaos. The broken masks hint at identity, deception and the layers we wear, while the dragon tattoo adds a deeper layer of power and protection beneath it all.

This one’s about internal conflict. The push and pull between control and chaos, discipline and instinct. Breaking masks, shedding versions of yourself, and facing what’s underneath. It carries a raw energy — not polished, not peaceful — but real.

Works best on areas where the movement can wrap and twist — upper arm, outer thigh or calf. Could also sit nicely across the ribs or as part of a larger sleeve composition. The shape naturally follows the body, making it feel alive once it’s on skin..
